Point of View: Christine Vachon’s State of Cinema Address

If you’re interested in U.S. independent cinema, you know Christine Vachon.

Producer of approximately 60 films that range from Swoon, Go Fish, Stonewall, Boys Don’t Cry in the 90’s, to Infamous, I’m Not There and this year’s Kill Your Darlings, as well as the 2010 miniseries Mildred Pierce.

She has written two very good books on her experience as an independent producer, Shooting to Kill and A Killer Life, both of which are available on Amazon.

Recently she gave the ‘State of Cinema’ Address for the San Francisco Film Society with the San Francisco International Film Festival. An audience Q&A is included.

If you’re having trouble launching the rocket of your independent film, it is the galvanizing attitude of Christine Vachon that may be the ‘big red start button’ your rocket launcher is looking for.
