Friday Fun

Friday Fun: David Sedaris: Six to Eight Black Men

Happy Holidays from Ardent Pictures!

Time to wish you some Christmas Friday Fun, everybody… especially if the world is ending tonight!

It’s almost Christmas Eve, and if you’re reading this, I hope you spend it with people you love, eating good food and drinking good drink.

You could also take a few minutes to listen to ‘Six to Eight Black Men’, read by the author, from ‘David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall‘.

If you’ve never heard the CD of Sedaris reading his work live at Carnegie Hall, I urge you to. The writing is wonderful, the performance of his readings are lovely and oh boy, is it ever funny. The audience seems completely engaged and energized by his performance, and the feeling between audience and performer is quite electric.

One of the stories, ‘Six to Eight Black Men’, has a Christmas theme, and to me, it is laugh-out-loud funny. It starts with Sedaris, while traveling,  wondering what Christmas traditions are in different countries — and leads to his hearing the story of St Nicholas and the Christmas Eve story of Holland.

Sharing the recording with you here, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, wherever you may be.

‘David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall’ is available on Amazon.
