Alec Baldwin interviews David Letterman on Here’s The Thing

Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin hosts podcast ‘Here’s The Thing’, which does give interesting glimpses into the lives of artists, politicians and performers. He’ll conduct interviews in dressing rooms, homes, and work places of people which helps bring a casual immediacy and often kind of intimacy to the proceedings.

On this episode of ‘Here’s The Thing’, Baldwin talks with David Letterman, legend of late-night. Once described as “a gap toothed unknown smartass”, I fell in love with Letterman when I saw him on TV for the first time when I was a kid; what can I say, I’ve always been a sucker for an intelligent sarcastic line of funny. Even as a kid.

Smart, funny, thoughtful and articulate, his interview gives a good glimpse of broadcasting in the 60s and 70s, as much as of Letterman himself.

This is Letterman like you’ve never known him; he describes his early years as a student and on TV in Indiana and his decision to try radio even though his boss said “You will never be heard of again”. We also hear about his move to LA and time at the comedy clubs and when he found himself on ‘The Tonight Show’.  Letterman said, “that’s not supposed to happen.”

David Letterman himself is a great interview. Listen to him FOR FREE here or stream on iTunes and enjoy.

Subscribers to ‘Here’s The Thing’ get new interviews every two weeks.
